# Refine System

### Overview

The Ragnarok Classic uses a pre-renewal refine system. Equipment can be refined from +1 up to a maximum of +10. Success rates decrease at higher refine levels, and failed attempts can destroy your equipment.

### Safe Refine Levels

The "safe" level is the highest refine where success is guaranteed (100%) and the item cannot break.

### What is Random Bonus?

At higher refine levels, weapons gain a **Random Bonus** — an additional ATK value randomly assigned between 0 and the listed maximum. This bonus is determined when the refine succeeds and adds on top of the base refine ATK.

For example, a +10 Weapon Level 4 grants **+70 ATK** base plus a random **+0\~78 ATK** bonus, for a potential total of up to **+148 ATK**.

### Important Notes

* All failed attempts above the safe level will **destroy** the equipment. There is no downgrade — the item is lost entirely.
* Refine costs include both the **material** (ore) and a **zeny fee** per attempt.
* Success rates shown are for **Normal** refining using standard ores.
